The Nigeria Football Federation has praised the energy and uncommon commitment of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Elder Gideon Akinsola for his duties around and away from the Nigeria Police Force, as the renowned officer marked his retirement from the Force with a thanksgiving service in Lagos on Sunday.
“No amount of praise words will be too much for the retired ACP Akinsola. He not only served the Force with such commitment and enthuasiasm, he was dogged and diligent in his duties as Nigeria’s FIFA Security Officer.
“Over the past several years, ACP Akinsola became a regular face in Nigeria’s football stadia, working full –strength at providing safety and security for stadia facilities and equipment, and of course, spectators. We adore him for his passion and high sense of dedication and will never forget the quality of service he rendered to Nigeria football, whether at important international matches or major tournaments hosted by our country,”Amadu said.
The 56 –year old officer, who authored a number of books on safety and security at football stadia, held a thanksgiving service at The Apostolic Church, Ikeja District, Agege Area of Lagos on Sunday, which was presided over by the National President of The Apostolic Church of Nigeria and LAWNA Territorial Chairman of the church, Pastor (Dr.) Gabriel Oladele Olutola.
Also in attendance were friends and well –wishers of ACP Akinsola, including the President of Taekwando Federation of Nigeria, Mr. George Ashiru, the General Editors of The SUN newspapers and renowned author, Mr. Ibikunle Solaja, NFF’s Assistant Director (Communications), Mr. Ademola Olajire and Special Assistant to NFF General Secretary, Dr. Christian Emeruwa.
The colourful event that kicked off at noon witnessed a special thanksgiving offering by ACP Akinsola, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force after 35 years of meritorious service.
